I didn’t think I’d do it. But I did. I hit the stores the morning of Black Friday.
Did I find crazed hordes of shoppers, fighting over the latest hot toy? Nope. All in all, the experience was quite civilized…which probably doesn’t bode well for retailers.
What type of advertising and marketing will support the new Porsche’s? That’s the question that kept popping into my cranium when I read this Business Week article. I’ve always been a Jaguar fan (that is until I drove one), but with the tough economy, how and to who would you go about marketing these little beasts?
We can’t pay attention to anything much longer than a couple of minutes anymore. I watch my teenage kids rabidly surf their ipods and, sometimes, the car radio, with a weird mix of devotion and impatience. Even when they find a song they absolutely love, they bounce out of it within a minute or so because it doesn’t hold their interest.
And this is music they love!
