How Would You Market Porsche?
What type of advertising and marketing will support the new Porsche’s? That’s the question that kept popping into my cranium when I read this Business Week article. I’ve always been a Jaguar fan (that is until I drove one), but with the tough economy, how and to who would you go about marketing these little beasts?

Over the past two years Porsche has greatly changed their marketing strategy. Prior to the introduction of the Cayenne GTS, Porsche had not run television ads in many years.
Today, it seems that Porsche has embraced the concept of “new” media and grass-roots marketing. They are providing almost unlimited access to the blogging and online media community and as a result they are experiencing a significant amount of non traditional coverage. Couple this shift in attitude with the explosion in popularity of forums, blogs, social media sites, etc. and you have a new method of getting the word out to a whole new generation of Porsche owners, fans and enthusiasts.
As long as the Porsche marketing and PR people continue to change with the times, they will continue to drive their message to larger and new audiences.

I’m glad to hear that Porsche is moving into e-communications and social networking. I hope they continue to test and learn.
Is there anything you would do differently than what Porsche is now doing to sell more cars?
