not sure this was a needed investment on mcdonald’s part. i don’t think packaging is the source of its business problems.
revamping the menu with some higher quality food (and a lot less fat) would be a better move.

What I’d love to see from McD’s — and all the fast food chains, for that matter — is LESS packaging. When I pick up dinner for my four person family there, I’m always amazed at the amount of trash we’ve generated from one meal.

My question is this: Does new packaging really help McDonald’s sell more burgers? I mean, do you stand in line, exam the packaging and say “Hey, I think I’ll try a Big Mac”? Not likely. It’s not like a retail product.
As for quality and amount of waste their packaging creates, I agree. I have 4 kids and the waste one meal creates is scary. The packaging is supposed to create the perception of “real food” according to the article. Hmm….
