Schultz Out at Penton

Ray Schultz has resigned as editorial director of Penton Media’s Chief Marketer Network, effective April Fool’s Day.

No replacement has been named because nobody could figure out exactly what he did.

Sorry. I know it sounds rough, but old habits die hard. That’s exactly how I’d write it about someone else. more

It’s the Little Things

Have you seen the Reynolds Wrap email that’s flying around right now? It seems that there is a little cardboard perf on the ends of all Reynolds Wraps boxes that, when punched in, prevents the roll of foil (or plastic wrap, or whatever) from tumbling out of the box, onto the floor, streaming the entire length of the material with it.

How Do You Clear Out a Room Full of Catalogers?

If true, marketers need to hand out the pink slip and their PR reps should make a big deal about it. These companies need to send a strong public message to the millions of young female—and male—Rihanna fans and their customers that there is no excuse for violence against women. That it is wrong and there can never be an excuse for it.

Socialize with Hulu

Hulu, the fast growing internet video site (2nd only to YouTube) is adding social-networking to its site. It wants to build both loyalty and collect better data from its users to increase advertising revenue through relevancy.

The social-networking function is an attempt to get users to interact with one another and share preferences and build more of a community. It’s fun watching all these new marketing approaches unfold. Let’s hope they can prove to be measurable and profitable for all involved.
