Susan Boyle, YouTube Sensation
If anyone wants to question the power of the internet, site Bon Iver to start. But trumping him is a 47-year-old Scottish virgin who will likely become a very big vocal star thanks, completely, to the power of the internet and viral marketing. Over 15 million video views in less than a week, international TV coverage, an invite from Oprah and that’s in less than 7 days!
You HAVE to watch this video. Pay close attention to the reaction before, during and after Ms. Boyle’s performance.
Here is an article about her. All I can say is WOW!

When I was growing up, the thought was the same as today, only the beautiful girls had boyfriends and dated. I was not beautiful in any sense of the word, but today I am 78 years old and no matter whom I meet they think I am much younger.
When I saw that wonderful video of Susan, I saw a beauiful swan whose sweetness and self confidence was so inspiring and I saw beauty, integrity, kindness and a woman who does not judge by appearance, but who has been criticized and ridiculed mercilessly.
When I looked at the audience, before they heard that beautiful voice, they were so judgemental, rude and completely out of line, but they certainly changed their attitude when they heard this remarkable woman sing.
I hope Susan goes on to have success and I also fervently hope that “SHOW BIZ” DOES NOT CHANGE HER.
My deep affection to Susan.

my wife and I watched Susan sing on youtube, there was a very quiet time as both of us were moved by her voice and sincerity of her presence which was so powerful, yet so tranquil as she has shown the two of us that people are just that. We are human beings who can never take other’s for granted as everyperson has something to offer in a world that has become so commercialized and dependant on seeing others suffer so we feel good about ourselves. May Susan bring humanity closer together in seeing that we all have a right to be seen and heard as we are, not as some corporate commodity that can be sold like a tin of hash. Susan stay strong, because we see in you a free spirit that must not be tarnished.

I’m suspicious. I watched the video when it first came out and really enjoyed it. Having just watched it again, I wonder how stunned the judges really were. Susan was fabulous and inspirational, but did the judges, as they led on, have no prior clue? Hmm. Maybe Simon was telling the truth.

Hi
I was wondering if anyone would be interested on speaking to the BBC on a show called World Have Your Say, which is a show at the BBC world service. Today’s show is about Susan Boyle and I was looking for comments from people around the world outside the US and the UK, and came across this post about her. I was interested in what you had to say and wanted to know if you would be interested in talking to us. The question we are asking today is : Has Susan Boyle revealed a world of prejudice? as we thought that Boyle’s case explores the prejudices we have about people - because of the way she looks, most people didn’t think she would sound like that. We are a global discussion programme and we broadcast between 6pm-8pm UK time. I was wondering if Grant or anyone else would be interested.
If so, please call me on 0044207 557 0635 and ask for Antoinette, I can then call you straight back and explain a bit more about the show.
Thanks
