This Is Why Merchants Need to Get Social

Just a quick post to say Ilana Rabinowitz, vice president of Lion Brand Yarn, hit the nail on the head here at IRCE.

The reason merchants need to stake their social media claim: Because people buy from other people, not from corporations.

It’s worked for Lion Brand, and I’ll write about this later for Multichannel Merchant. Consumers once thought they were a large brand because they sold to big box stores. Now they are a familiar face to the knitting and crocheting community.

Congratulations Simone, You Win a Car!

Not just any car, a Lexus 350! Just for attending IRCE!

Only my second year attending IRCE, but both years I found it pretty funny that a car is raffled off on the last day of the show. Not that I’d turn it down if I was eligible to win. It’s just that people aren’t going to come to IRCE just to win a car (or any of the trips… except maybe the trip to IRCE 2010 in Chicago). more

The New Rhythm of Relationships

Those that know me know that I love to dig deep into human behavior. I’m a self certified social scientist :) I watch and absorb patterns of behavior like a sponge. Some folks like to people watch, but not me. I look at the whole world as my laboratory and watch and learn every day with the child-like enthusiasm of a grade schooler that has his/her first crush. My blood races as I watch and learn, learn, learn.

Of course, as much as I love to parenthetically speaking study human behavior — I’ve never even read a book on it or taken a real class — I have a beginner’s brain on the subject matter. Yep, you guessed it. I’m an experiential learner too! It’s not that I don’t want to be able to read big, sophisticated looking books with intellectual titles — it’s just that my A.D.D has A.D.D. Although this condition makes for one heck of an office set-up. more
