USPS Reduces List Of Possible Closures

Well, the U.S. Postal Service’s Station and Branch Optimization Initiative has reduced its initial list of 677 stations and branches to 413 identified for possible closure or consolidation. more

Beware the Zombie Stores

Here’s a retail trend just in time for Halloween: zombie stores. This retail inventory article in today’s Chicago Tribune talks about how stores are desperate to make sure they don’t get stuck with too much merchandise this year.


The amount of cargo coming into the U.S. is at its lowest level in at least seven years, and retail inventories are dropping even faster than sales are falling, the article says. The result could be a slew of “zombie stores,” or what retail consultant Bill Emerson calls shops that look like they’re going out of business. more
