MyBuys Speaks Softly and Gives Away Big Sticks

MyBuys Walking StickI’ve seen my fair share of odd swag given away at tradeshows, but a yardstick seemed last night to beat everything. Imagine leaving the Internet Retailer Web Design and Usability Conference and trying to get through security at Orlando International Airport with something that could be considered a weapon?

MyBuys knew what it was doing. Vice president-marketing Chip Overstreet explained it to me today: MyBuys really gave out a walking stick, which means the Transportation Security Administration should have no beef with any show attendee.

Why the walking stick that just so happens to be calibrated and 36-inches long? According to Overstreet, it measures, it helps you draw a straight line, and you can play stickball with it using other exhibitors’ giveaways.

I’m a little afraid to go through security later today, but I guess I can deal. After all, I could use a good walking stick.
