Jim Carey is CADM DMer of the Year
A quick conversation with Jim Carey—the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing’s 2009 Charles S. Downs’ DMer of the Year—proves one thing. He shares a penchant for humor with the movie star who shares his moniker.
When asked about his early career running political campaigns, he delighted in sharing how he never tried to dispel folks who thought that he was one of former New York Governor Hugh Carey’s 14 children. “Statistically, I could have been,” he joked.
Carey notes there are a lot of parallels between direct marketing and politics, including that both can often involve working with integrated media and dedicated sales forces. “And in both, on a fundamental level, you are building a brand.”
